Scott Mathews came through our weld shop, which is a new business that had been operating for 18 months at the time of his consultation. As a small start-up business, it can be intimidating bringing someone with Scott's experience through the shop for this type of consultation. Also, some of the shop crew that have been fabricating for 30 plus years do not always take so kindly to someone coming in to tell them how they should be doing their job. However, the entire experience working with Scott was about as informative and educational as any consultation that I have ever seen. Scott was very understanding of why everything was set up the way that it is, and also very professional and sincere in writing his reports and recommendations for improvements. Scott is versed in how to set up a shop for general production, and he not only explained how we could set the building up for success, but he also drew up a plan showing the set-up. Scott made all sorts of suggestions with multiple options to keep things in budget, as well as some recommended major purchases that could help to ramp up production. One of my favorite highlights of the comprehensive report was the shop safety and Fire Marshall Inspection requirements. Scott made very clear and honest statements about anything that could be a fine and also cited the deficiencies.
My experience in working with Scott to help us improve the safety and production of the shop was very pleasant and I would highly recommend that any fabrication shop lean on Scott's extensive experience to help find major or incremental room for improvement.
